ESTA CODA DEBUTS NEW SONG

Esta Coda — “Henny Penny”

Check out the premiere of “Henny Penny” from Esta Coda’s debut EP, “Kindness,” which will be released in the near future. Esta Coda will perform Friday, Jan. ,17 at The Vintage’s free, all-ages fifth anniversary show.  The band will also play at A Fire With Friends’ album-release show on Jan. 25 at 25/8 Productions.

Esta Coda features Jay Preston (vocals/guitar), Daniel Rosler (vocals/guitar), Jonathan Fletcher (bass) and Patrick King.

Rosler said the project sprung from having songs that did not fit A Fire With Friends, his primary musical project.

“I kind of hate the word ‘vibe,’ but they were just different songs,” Rosler explained.  “I can tell as I’m writing them.”

Esta Coda has also presented Rosler with the “cool challenge” of trying to write shorter, “melody-driven” songs, he said.

Preston and King had initially recorded tracks with Will Yip (Tigers Jaw, Title Fight, Circa Survive) at Studio 4 in Conshohocken before Esta Coda was properly formed.  Rosler said the band finished drums and bass Studio 4 before going on to work with Mike Watts (The Dear Hunter, As Tall As Lions) in Port Jefferson, N.Y., and Joe Loftus at JL Studios in Wyoming, Pa.

The band has not decided on how to release the 5-song EP, Rosler said, and might self-release it.  The plan now is to release a video which was recently filmed in Rosler’s living room “and play a lot of shows,” he said.

Esta Coda has played at a handful of venues in the area, and one of the most special to the band is The Vintage, Rosler said.

“They’ve been a big help just by existing,” he said.  “It sounds corny to say, but I don’t know where I’d be or where the band would be if not for what they do.”
