Andrew McMahon has had at least three careers so far, with his bands Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, the project he has led since 2014. Each act has provided a unique outlet for self-expression for the California singer, songwriter and pianist, who on March 31 will release “Tilt At The Wind No More,” the fourth album under the AMITW banner.
Before embarking on a tour, including a sold-out underplay at Rockwood Music Hall on April 4, McMahon chatted with us about the new record, the three distinct chapters of his musical journey, opening stadium shows for Billy Joel and, as a cancer survivor, why he created the Dear Jack Foundation. You can watch our conversation below. And to check out photos from Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness performing at Pier 17 last April, click here.
