WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Celebrating the release of their new album “Rented World,” Philadelphia-via-Scranton band The Menzingers performed an intimate show to a packed crowd Wednesday night at Gallery Of Sound in Wilkes-Barre.
The album, released on Epitaph Records on Tuesday, was engineered at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia by Jonathan Low (The War On Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile and The National). The early reviews are positive, with Pitchfork saying, “Menzingers excel in desperate, earnest melodic punk,” and SPIN calling the record “honest, vulnerable declarations.”
Earlier this week, the band debuted a video for “I Don’t Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore” on Stereogum.
The band’s tour kicks off May 29 at The Met in Providence, R.I., and includes stops at Webster Hall in New York (May 30), Union Transfer in Philadelphia (May 31) and Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C. (June 1).
