LUCA CHESNEY RETURNS WITH HAUNTING ‘MOTHER ELECTRIC’ (EP PREMIERE)

Following up on last year’s self-titled debut, New York City R&B-electronica singer-songwriter Luca Chesney today releases a new EP, “Mother Electric.” You can exclusively stream the EP below.

“Thematically this album (and all my art, really) deals with individuation, the interior journey, life/death/life cycles…there really are no other ‘people’ on this album lyrically,” Chesney says. “Part of the fun for me in writing this was to say what I wanted to say, but to package these themes in a light, accessible way, both lyrically and musically. ”

The richly textured 7-song EP features Chesney’s emotive and unique take on “Forever Young,” initially by German group Alphaville and made popular again in 2010 with Jay-Z’s reworking, “Young Forever.”

Chesney will perform an EP-release show at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1 (196 Allen St., New York) at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 13.
