SUPERGROUP RECORDS EIGHT TRACKS IN EIGHT HOURS, RELEASES ALBUM TEN HOURS LATER

This is pretty much the antithesis of “Chinese Democracy”: Ben Folds, Damian Kulash (OK Go), Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls) and author Neil Gaiman wrote and recorded eight songs in eight hours at Berklee College Of Music on Monday and released them 10 hours later during Rethink Music in Boston.

The collaboration was broadcast live from the studio at rethink-music.com, and the group gave a presentation there on the recording project followed by a private concert for conference registrants at the Berklee Performance Center.

As 8in8, the group released the album, called “Nighty Night,” via Bandcamp. You can listen to the single “One Tiny Thing,” which debuted yesterday on Spin’s website, here. Proceeds from the first week of downloads will benefit Berklee City Music, which provides free music education to underserved teens.

The complete Rethink Music program which includes performances by Basia Bulat, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Metric and more, is available on its website.
