British guitarist Steve Hackett has thrilled audiences for decades with his epic electric guitar work, first as a member of the Peter Gabriel-fronted version of Genesis and since then as a prolific solo artist. His newest album, last month’s “Under A Mediterranean Sky,” is an acoustic affair but is no less expansive. With orchestration by long-time collaborator Roger King, the album is inspired by Hackett’s travels to the Mediterranean and the music beautifully evokes some of his favorite spots, from the Nile to the Croatian coastline to Pompeii.
Hackett recently joined us to chat about the new record, his love for travel, how he keeps his fingernails in shape and what we can expect from him next. You can watch our conversation below.
