Sometimes indie music and the mainstream movie world collide, and sometimes the results are rewarding. That seems to be the case with two pieces of interesting soundtrack news:She & Him have contributed to the upcoming “Winnie The Pooh” film, and Ben Gibbard ofDeath Cab For Cutie has added two songs to the soundtrack of the “Arthur” remake. (Coincidentally, She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel and Gibbard are married.)
Below, you can view a video of Deschanel talking about the involvement of her duo project with M. Ward in the “Pooh” movie and get a taste of the tune “So Long.” And below that you can stream Gibbard’s “Arthur” track, “When The Sun Goes Down.” The “Arthur” soundtrack is out today, and the movie hits theaters April 8. The soundtrack features a second Gibbard track, “Where Our Destination Lies,” as well as contributions from Daniel Merriweather,Mark McAdam, Eternal Summers and Fritz and the Tantrums, which tackle the monumental task of covering the Christopher Cross classic “Arthur’s Theme (The Best That You Can Do).”
