Record Store Day 2016 – the event’s ninth year – swept through independent record stores nationwide last Saturday, and Northeastern Pennsylvania locations were no stranger to the celebration, which seems to grow in size and influence each year.
In addition to the RSD-only releases that music fans and collectors queue up for, in-store performances have become a mainstay of the yearly event. Gallery Of Sound’s flagship store in Wilkes-Barre played host to Skip Monday; Young and Heartless; Charles Havira, Krish Kehr and Nick Driscoll; Aaron Fink and the Fury; and Dustin Douglas & The Electric Gentlemen. Meanwhile, a few miles up Highway 81 in Scranton, Embassy Vinyl rolled out an impressive bill of acts: Tigers Jaw; Captain, We’re Sinking; Esta Coda; Old Charades; Crock Pot Abduction; Westpoint; Spure; and Soft Pulse,
Brittany Boote captured a bunch of great images from Gallery and Embassy. Check them out below.
