Scranton and Philadelphia band Old Charades today announces a new album, “Iron-Jawed Angels,” and debuts the title track here as well. The band says the album will most likely be released in late fall or early winter.
The band — Sean Flynn (guitar and vocals) Jerry Connor (drums) and Tom Lopes (bass) – recorded at Windmill Agency in Lake Ariel, Pa., where Eric Ritter produced and engineered the album.
“I showed this new record to a friend, and he said, ‘This sounds exactly like you, Sean and Tom writing songs,’ which I think is the best compliment we’ve ever received,” says Connor. “‘Iron-Jawed Angels’ was very fun and occasionally frustrating to make. Some songs came together immediately, others we threw out pretty shortly after finishing, and a few felt like they were written and rewritten a dozen times to get right. But that’s half the fun of it. It’s very exciting to finally share these songs because we’re all very proud of what we stitched together. The three of us all love the camaraderie and community that comes with playing music and I think the songs speak to that, which has already got me excited to see what else we can cook up.”
Old Charades are working on booking release shows in Philadelphia and Scranton. In the meantime, Connor and Flynn will perform with Those Clever Foxes on Nov. 29 in Scranton for The Vintage’s 10-year anniversary.
