British alt-rock band Placebo performed in New York for the first time since 2014, with two dates at Brooklyn Steel on April 23-24 in support of their eighth album, “Never Let Me Go.” Their North American tour includes a show at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 29.
“Never Let Me Go,” released last year, was awarded four stars from the UK’s NME, who called it “a renaissance rock record with an experimental edge.” In addition, the band last year released a cover of the Tears For Fears hit “Shout.” It marked the latest in a long line of songs from the 1980s covered by Placebo, including “Jackie” by Sinead O’Connor, “Where Is My Mind?” by the Pixies and “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush.
