British singer Suki Waterhouse made her New York City debut last week with a pair of sold-out shows at Elsewhere’s Zone 1 in Brooklyn. Waterhouse is touring behind her debut full-length album, “I Can’t Let Go,” which was released May 6 on Sub Pop Records.

“The album is called ‘I Can’t Let Go,’ because for years it felt like I was wearing heavy moments on my sleeve and it just didn’t make sense to do so anymore,” she said in her Sub Pop bio. “There’s so much that I’ve never spoken about. Writing music has always been where it felt safe to do so. Every song for the record was a necessity. In many ways, I’ve been observing my life as an outsider — even when I’ve been on the inside. It’s like I was a visitor watching things happen.”

Waterhouse will open for Father John Misty starting July 31 at Red Rocks in Colorado on a tour that will include stops in Los Angeles as well as The Met in Philadelphia on Sept. 13 and Radio City with the New York Pops on Sept. 22.
