PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART SHARE SINGLE, PLOT TOUR

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart have shared “Simple and Sure,” the new single from the Brooklyn band’s upcoming album “Days Of Abandon,” which will be released April 22.

According to a press release:

“Produced by Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Patrick Wolf, Cloud Boat) and mixed by Charlie Hugall at  London’s Engine Room (Swim Deep, Florence And the Machine), Abandon departs from the exaggerated roar and clamor that defined the group’s last record, the Flood-and-Alan Moulder helmed Belong.

‘I didn’t want to make Belonger,’ [singer guitarist Kip] Berman says. ‘This album was a chance to step back from that universal style of songwriting to something that was far more personal, more in keeping with my original ideals. I wanted the music to be joyful and full of light, even if the subjects were often dark.’

The album artwork prominently features the work of newly celebrated South Korean artist Lee Jinju’s work The Material of Mind.

The band’s spring tour kicks off March 7 at Ottobar in Baltimore and hits Rough Trade in Brooklyn on March 28, Johnny Brenda’s on May 19 and the Bowery Ballroom on May 22.   Fear of Men and Ablebody will support on the JB’s and Bowery Ballroom dates.
