MUMFORD & SONS, EDWARD SHARPE, OLD CROW BOOK RAILROAD REVIVAL

Seemingly inspired by the Festival Express tour of 1970, Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show will play a 6-city tour dubbed the Railroad Revival Tour in which the bands will travel from show to show via vintage rail cars.

??????????According to the web site for the Southwestern tour, the bands will “eat, sleep and record” on the train, and a similarly communal idea will drive the shows, in which the bands will have equal billing. The tour will be filmed for a documentary (you might know that a film came out of Festival Express, too).

This is, obviously, a neat idea, and the bands will likely have a blast and get some good press. But as a fan, when you’re watching a band on stage, do you care how the musicians got there? Does it have an impact on your experience?

??????The train will take the three bands to Oakland (April 21) and San Pedro (April 22), Calif.; Chandler, Ariz. (April 23); Marfa (April 24) and Austin (April 26), Texas; and New Orleans (April 27).? Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 9 at noon EST.
