New York City band Bodega celebrated the release of its new album, “Our Brand Could Be Yr Life,” last week at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn. Playing off the theme of the album, a commentary on the corporatization of indie rock, Bodega introduced the performance with an ATM on stage that distributed Bodega money.

“The idea of the corporatization of guitar music has only been exacerbated,” co-lead singer Ben Hozie said in a press release. “The big philosophical question that I end up asking myself is: has it always been this way? Was rock always superficial, but I was just too young and naive to understand?”

This week, Bodega had an in-store performance at Rough Trade and will begin a tour on April 19 in Boston, eventually wrapping in France in early June. In September, the band will return to Europe, with dates in England and France, before hitting the US West Coast.
