As part of his “Winter of Warren,” Gov’t Mule frontman and longtime Allmans Brothers Band member Warren Haynes brought his self-named band to the FM Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on March 4. The guitarist and vocalist is joined by bassist Kevin Scott and drummer Terrence Higgins, both of Gov’t Mule, and Matt Slocum on keyboards.

Wednesday’s show featured a tasty mix of material from all corners of Haynes’ career, including solo selections, Mule tunes, Allmans songs and classic, guitar-forward covers, including Jimi Hendrix’s “Spanish Castle Magic” and the group’s debut of “Freeway Jam” by Jeff Beck.

In late 2024, Haynes released his fourth solo album, “Million Voices Whisper”; watch or read Haynes speak about that, reconnecting in the studio with Allmans bandmate Derek Trucks and more in our interview. Last year, he released “The Whisper Sessions,” featuring stripped-down versions of songs from the album.

On April 30, Haynes will perform with the Louisiana Philharmonic in New Orleans as part of the city’s Jazz Fest.
