Ben Gibbard has notably released albums with Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service, but one thing he has not done is put out a solo album. Yet. That will change on Oct. 16, when“Former Lives,” Gibbard’s first solo effort, comes out on Barsuk Records (which put out Death Cab’s early records as well as “Field Manual,” the brilliant but criminally underappreciated 2008 solo debut by fellow Death Cabber Chris Walla).
For now, you can stream “Teardrop Windows,” the first single from the DCFC frontman’s record, below. You can also preorder “Former Lives” in various forms at Gibbard’s site here.
To promote the album, Gibbard will head out on a 14-date North American tour, including stops at Town Hall in New York City on Monday, Nov. 5, the Keswick Theatre near Philadelphia on Wednesday, Nov. 7 and Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Nov. 8.
