My Morning Jacket have announced the details of sixth album, “Circuital,” which will be released “this spring” according to the band’s publicist. In anticipation of the album, MMJ is releasing six free downloads (which you can sign up for below). The first five downloads will be live tracks from the Kentucky band’s October run at Terminal 5, and the sixth track will come from the new record.
The band recorded in Nashville and at a church gymnasium in its hometown of Louisville, with frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens) producing.
According to the press release: “In addition to getting reacquainted with their roots, the guys opted for a loose and warm production style for the album. The result is yet another reinvention of their sound that both forges new ground and maintains the distinct spirit of My Morning Jacket’s previous work.”
