HOLIDAY WISDOM FROM CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN

HOLIDAY WISDOM FROM CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN

By Nikki M. Mascali

For the past 10 years, Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven have instilled a Christmas tradition that’s probably quite a bit different than yours.  The two bands hit the road each Christmas week for their “Drifting Down the Coast” tour, from San Francisco to San Diego.

While Highway 81 Revisited chatted Friday with CVB bassist Victor Krummenacher about the East Coast version, which will hit Philadelphia and New York next month (and which you’ll read about right here in a few weeks), we couldn’t help but ask Krummenacher whether he has any other holiday traditions, ones that don’t require him picking up his bass or getting on stage.

“The holidays, they just require family.  That’s become super, super important to me, to be with my family and friends and just turn everything off.  Don’t buy shit.  Don’t go to the mall.  Turn the shit off.”

Words to live by, especially in this day and age, if you ask me.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!
