San Francisco Bay Area singer-songwriter Peter N. Knight has assigned himself some homework, and today, he is turning in one of his first assignments, the song “Our Home,” where he takes listeners back to New York’s Lower East Side, where he grew up.
“My sister and me in a New York City apartment, getting by on our own until our parents came home from work late at night,” Knight explains. “Vanilla cones, Johnson’s on the corner after school, a black-and-white TV.”
“Our Home” makes its exclusive debut at Highway 81 Revisited today.
The single is part of “Homework,” Knight’s debut album, which he says is about “going back through my past to finally process it, from a mattress on the floor with my wife to Henry Street and a partner who left without an explanation.”
The album, out Nov. 6, is an acoustic indie folk release built on Knight’s vocals as well as guitar, piano, strings bass and cajon.
