The lights went down, the crowd roared, they were loud and they were ready to rock with Billy Idol, who performed the first show of his newly announced dates at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton with opening act Devo.
Idol opened the show with “Still Dancing” from his album “Dream Into It,” which was released in 2025. “Eyes Without a Face” was performed early in the set and led into Steve Stevens’ guitar solo, which featured a recognizable snippet of Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption.” The solo led into The Tommy James & the Shondells song “Mony Mony,” which Idol had a hit with in 1985, in which Idol’s backup singers performed at the front of stage with him.
Idol performed one of his biggest songs, “Rebel Yell,” which had the crowd rocking hard. Idol and his band exited the stage but he was not done yet, returning to the for the encore which consisted of four songs, including the iconic “Dancing With Myself” by Generation X, Idol’s 1970s punk rock band. They closed out the show with “White Wedding,” in which a stained-glass window appeared on the big screen behind the band.
At age 70, Idol sounds amazing, along with the rest of his band. Fans can catch his It’s a Nice Day to…Tour Again up until September 27 with opening acts varying by date.
