HELLO MARY AT BOWERY BALLROOM

NYC trio Hello Mary, a frequent support act for heavyweights like Silversun Pickups and American Football, were the headline attraction at Bowery Ballroom on Thursday. The band (Helena Straight, Stella Wave, and Mikaela Oppenheimer), together since high school, last month released its new album, “Emita Ox,” on Frenchkiss Records.

Photographer Bobby Nicholas III, who captured the images here, says: “It was a hometown show, playing a venue they’ve been to many times as fans. Some of their parents were in the audience. The drummer/singer began the show by shaking everyone in the front’s hand — something I’ve never seen before. Music was tons of fun — felt like I was at a show in the 90s that I’ve always wished I could go to if I was born 15 years earlier.”
