On Sept. 13, Primus will release “Green Naugahyde,” the band’s first studio album in 11 years. Primus currently features Les Claypool (bass, vocals), Larry LaLonde (guitar) and Jay Lane (drums). Lane was in an early Primus lineup, as well as Sausage, a 1994 reunion of the 1988 version of Primus.
“If I were to look at all of our records, it seems like this is reminiscent of the early stuff,” Claypool said in a press release. “Obviously, with Jay there’s a newness to it, but because he left the band right before we recorded our first record, his approach has an eerie hearkening to the old ‘Frizzle Fry’ days.”
After dates at Bonnaroo and Red Rocks with the Flaming Lips, Primus will hit the road in September for a fall tour in support of the album.
