STEAMTOWN MUSIC AWARDS ANNOUNCE VENUE, DATE, LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT RECIPIENT & ANNOUNCEMENT PARTY

The second annual Steamtown Music Awards will take place at The V Spot (906 Providence Road, Scranton, Pa.) on Sept. 17, returning to the location of last year’s event. An important change for many attendees: The V Spot will be non-smoking the night of the ceremony.

The SMAs have also revealed that this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient will be Bret Alexander, a Northeastern Pa.-based songwriter, musician and producer known as a founding member of The Badlees, The Cellarbirds and his current band, Gentleman East. Since 1999, Alexander has been operating the Saturation Acres recording studio, where he has produced albums for a wide range of artists, including the multi-platinum-selling hard rock band Breaking Benjamin.

Additionally, the SMAs will hold an Announcement Party on July 22 at Franklin’s (53 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.). The free event will begin at 6:30 p.m and include performances by Esta Coda, Skip Monday, Mock Sun and Strawberry Jam. SMA organizers will announce the performers that have been nominated in each category of the 2015 awards.

The Steamtown Music Awards take place annually to honor the musician and music industry professionals of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The awards are held in association with the Electric City Music Conference, which will take placeĀ Sept. 17-19, 2015. For more information visitĀ www.electriccitymusicconference.com.
