With a new concert album simply called “Live” set for a Sept. 23 release, fast-rising guitar hero Gary Clark Jr. on Monday performed at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park as part of New York City’s Summerstage series.

The show was opened by Jonathan Batiste and Stay Human. Batiste is a New Orleans native who was recently named Associate Artistic Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.  Batiste, only 25, has already performed in 40 countries alongside legends like Prince, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Connick Jr., and he is involved in music education programs.
