GREGG ALLMAN TO RELEASE LIVE ALBUM & DVD, HOST FIRST LAID BACK FESTIVAL AT JONES BEACH

Gregg Allman will release a live CD and DVD titled “Gregg Allman Live: Back To Macon, Ga.” on Aug. 7. The CD and DVD capture Allman and his 8-piece band performing at the 1,000-seat Grand Opera House.

“We played, lived, laughed and cried there,” says Allman about Macon in the package’s liner notes. “And I wrote many, many songs in that town. It’s always good to play Macon, man.”

The Allman Brothers Band got its start in Macon more than 40 years ago.

The live album features 16 tracks, including selections from the ABB catalog, Allman’s solo career and several cover songs. The DVD will be the first one released in Allman’s solo career.

Last week, Rolling Stone debuted from the DVD a re-worked, horn-assisted version of the ABB classic “One Way Out,” which also features Allman’s son, Devon Allman, on guitar. You can watch the video below.

Gregg Allman will host the first-ever Laid Back festival on Aug. 29 on Jones Beach’s Nikon Theater in Long Island, N.Y. Before that, he will serve as a headliner at the ABB-founded Peach Music Festival, which will be held Aug. 13 through Aug. 16 at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pa.
