Fans were eager to get inside The Sherman Theater with a long line waiting for doors to open for the Oct. 4 show in Stroudsburg, Pa. The lights went down and “Diary of a Madman” by Ozzy Osbourne played over the PA getting the crowd pumped — you could hear LA Guns guitarist Tracii Guns playing along on the side of the dark stage.
Tracii Guns came out with an EVH Franken Strat guitar and included a part of Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption” during his guitar solo. Singer Phil Lewis, now 68, still sounds how he did in the 1980s. The band played the short intro to “Hells Bells” by AC/ DC then went right into “Never Enough” and followed with their biggest hit, “The Ballad of Jayne,” which got the crowd singing along with the theater lit up with cellphone flashlights.
Tom Keifer hit the stage opening with his solo song “Touching the Divine” — as soon as the band hit the first note you felt the energy of loud rock n’ roll. Keifer played all the Cinderella hits, including “Nobody’s Fool,” “Coming Home,” “Shake Me” and “Somebody Save Me.” During the ballad “Don’t Know What You Got (Till it’s Gone)” a piano was rolled on stage, with Keifer singing with his wife and background vocalist Savannah. The encore was “Gypsy Road,” which got the crowd rocking. The band closed the night out with a cover of The Beatles song “With a Little Help from My Friends.”
Keifer’s last show of the year as this one. Both bands’ performances had everyone engaged and the energy was high. Tom Keifer and LA Guns are must-see bands live, as both acts give it their all and sound amazing.
