SCRANTON, Pa. — Before the veil was dropped, silhouettes were scattered across a black curtain while a back-lit Third Eye Blind introduced themselves to the crowd during “Screamer.” The band played heavily from their back catalog at the Summer Gods tour, with exceptions including 2016’s “Company of Strangers,” which fit in seamlessly. Frontman Stephan Jenkins teased that the follow-up to that album will be released shortly.
Fans at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain on July 12 were praised for making “Motorcycle Drive By” a huge success of a song despite no radio play or commercial deals. The song was met with great excitement from fans. The energy shifted as Jenkins spoke out against domestic violence, citing the death of a close friend to the band. Classics like “Never Let You Go,” “Jumper” and “How’s It Going to Be” were all on display that night before an encore of “The Background” and “Semi-Charmed Life.” Jimmy Eat World co-headlined along with support from Ra Ra Riot.
