Philadelphia-via-Scranton punk band The Menzingers will host their fifth annual Holiday Show on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Scranton Cultural Center (420 N. Washington Ave., Scranton, Pa.). Also on the bill for the all-ages show are Tigers Jaw, Captain We’re Sinking, The Sw!ms, Three Man Cannon and Petal.
All proceeds from the event, which will begin at 5 p.m., will benefit Arts Alive, a music and arts program funded by the state of Pennsylvania for children in grades 2 though 12, as well as other youth music and arts programs.
“It’s not uncommon knowledge that when budget cuts in education occur, some of the first programs to suffer are arts programs,” The Menzingers’ Tom May said in a press release from Epitaph, the band’s record label. “Our lives revolve around our music and the arts. We want to give back to the area where we came up, the area that continues to shape and inspire us to this day.”
Admission is $20 in advance and $25 day-of-show. Alcohol will be available for purchase, according to the press release. For tickets and more information, visit www.nepaholidayshow.com.
